My Students

In our high poverty, low income school district, my students are faced with several obstacles on a daily basis. To combat these challenges, I am determined to give these students the best learning experiences possible.

My students are creative, smart, and ready to learn!

They crave positive attention and are always on the move. One hundred percent of the students at my school receive free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch. Many of them may have challenging family lives. Despite these challenges, I feel that all students should receive the best opportunities available to them to help them grow as learners.

My Project

Mental health has become something that has been discussed more and more since the pandemic began. Many students do not have access to resources that may help them deal with what they are feeling. This collection of picture books was created so that educators and the librarian can use them to help students explore emotions.

These picture books will spark important conversations and awareness with our students and school community.

There are many ways that we can be there for our students. Having engaging picture books that will create conversations is one way to do that.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
