Filling in worksheets and labeling diagrams is overrated. To really learn about the body and its systems, students need hands-on experiences. They need to, as Ms. Frizzle said, "Take chances, make mistakes, and get messy!"
My students come from all over New York City, from many different cultures and backgrounds.
They chose to attend this public school because they are motivated scholars who are dedicated to academic and personal success.
Our Science program emphasizes hands-on learning. Throughout the year students have completed many engaging projects, ranging from traveling to local bodies of water to conduct field research about water quality to creating public service announcements about the dangers of noise pollution.
My students are curious, creative, and engaged!
My Project
Students will be able to explore the body systems hands on! Though frog body systems and human body systems are not exactly alike, there are many parallels. By dissecting frogs, students will be able to explore the body systems in a complex multi-cellular organism. They will be able see and touch organs. They will gain a better understanding of how their own organs and organ systems work!
Students are eager to dissect and to have real, hands-on experiences in the science lab.
Some are already interested in careers in science and medicine. All my students are intrigued by how bodies, organs, and organ systems work. This project provide them with a unique lab experience that will help further their understanding of the human body!
