My Students
I am a reading intervention teacher in a Title 1, low socio-economic area with refugees from all over the world including Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, and Syria. I pull students in small group to give additional support for students who are reading below grade level.
Hardworking, focused, and eager; my students have a passion for learning and strong desire to become better readers.
My students are working to overcome systemic issues that are prevalent in their daily lives. Despite the hardships they endure, my students come to school ignited with the hope that they can grow and overcome.
My Project
These books will allow my students to read engaging and level appropriate texts. My students will be able to work on their fluency and comprehension at an instructional level. Through the use of these books, students can begin to practice a variety of skills such as reading with expression, retelling, identifying main ideas, and answering higher order thinking questions.
Students will be captivated by the stories and information in these books; which will lay the foundation to becoming lifelong readers.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds and have faced massive struggles and traumas. These books will make it easier for them as they grow into proficient readers and gain confidence in themselves.
