These books will allow my students to read engaging and level appropriate texts. My students will be able to work on their fluency and comprehension at an instructional level. Through the use of these books, students can begin to practice a variety of skills such as reading with expression, retelling, identifying main ideas, and answering higher order thinking questions. Students will be captivated by the stories and information in these books; which will lay the foundation to becoming lifelong readers. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and have faced massive struggles and traumas. These books will make it easier for them as they grow into proficient readers and gain confidence in themselves.
