Hello Donors, Thank you for even taking the time to take a peek at this proposal! I am currently a fifth grade teacher, in the Bronx. I teach in a low income, urban environment. I really enjoy integrating literacy and the various content areas, but the problem I am faced with is the lack of materials. I want to greatly increase my students' fluency and reading comprehension, through the use of interesting science and social studies curriculum, in connection with the litearcy. I barely have enough books to give my students independent reading text, so you can imagine the struggle when I have to find material for a topic I want to introduce. I found this great Trio Content Area Bundle! This is through Scholastic, and it has the same content area topics, but with different leveled text! I was so excited to see this because now I can have my whole class on the same page without having to give out material that is not on their level. I want my students to be able to achieve at the same pace without slowing any of them down, and without hindering any of the other students by giving them text that are too hard. Thank You so very much.
