I teach a classroom of 6-7-years-old with a variety of intellectual needs. Who live in an economically challenged area, where there may only be one caregiver. My students will need to focus on being new 1st Graders, using all the senses, as well as becoming new readers.
Although economically challenged, they are each excited about a new year in school, learning to read and write effectively, to start work in the world of science, and focus on their math skills.
These kids are deserving of the opportunity to excel in all they do. In order to accomplish this goal for science, math, and reading we ask for your assistance in providing the materials needed to focus on our classroom work. It is vital to have the appropriate tools necessary in order for all of the students to learn and succeed with this curriculum.
With your help, my kids will look forward to each day, anticipating a whole new world of fascinating school work that teach them about the world they live in and a world of surprising information that will also help spur their thirst for knowledge
My Project
These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy-I read on the carpet to them, they complete work there, and they read independently! Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.
They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
