Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My special needs students view each day as an opportunity to learn and explore the world around them. They develop their minds with new skills everyday. My incredible students are filled to the brim with energy and enthusiasm for learning.
Our school is Title One and located in a low socioeconomic community with limited resources.
All of my students receive free school lunch and are classified as English language learners. As part of a special day program, my students must be exposed to grade level standards. As a result, my students must be organized and able to quickly access materials for the appropriate skills set and activities of the day.
Students in my classroom are students with special needs like Autism, Spina Bifida, Dyslexia and several other disabilities.
My Project
According to research, there are twenty-one million children that are eligible for free or reduced-price school lunch, but only less than half of those students are eating breakfast in the morning.
I can begin building stronger relationships where they trust me and want to come to school everyday to learn.
Having these snacks will help my special needs second and third graders.
Students who are well-nourished perform better academically, have better concentration, show improved behavior, punctuality and attendance in school. Opposite that, due to hunger, students can result in a lack of progress in academics, poor concentration and behavior. These challenges can be met by providing snacks for students. I can begin building stronger relationships where they trust me and want to come to school everyday to learn. Having this snacks will help my seventh and eighth graders.
