This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

. This device has proven success to motivate our students to get up and get moving it eludes far more complex and expensive fitness programs: accountability, goal-setting and being able to monitor progress. Let's help our families set goals they can reach with the children at little cost to them.

My students are the wondrous explorers of the world.

They understand my job as a teacher and the balance between pushing them to be great students but great people as well. My students began to understand the importance of teamwork, hard work, and how one hand washes the other. With the team I work with this is one of our biggest push for our students to understand. We feel that if the characteristics listed above are met and students problem solve using good judgment the possibilities are endless. Don't get me wrong my students love to play, enjoy laughs, and cry when something makes them sad. But being able to console a friend sometimes makes a greater difference.

My Project

I will use pedometers to motivate students to increase their daily physical activity and track their data in order to support self-assessment with an eye toward their personal goals. I will also create two programs to help foster reading and encouraging my students to become more active.

I am hoping that students will take what they have learned in my classes to continue to be healthy and active.

Furthermore I am hoping to also help my parents understand how important being healthy is by seeing the excitement their children are having using such a small but effective device.
