Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are enthusiastic learners and are beginning to understand and appreciate their environment and the world they live in. They enjoy hands-on activities and experiments. They appreciate anything that is donated to our class.
My transitional kindergarten students are eager to learn and become great mathematicians and scientists.
However, we lack some supplies to fulfill their needs. I teach wonderful, curious, and active students who live in a low income, high poverty area of Los Angeles. The majority of my students are second-language learners.
My Project
My transitional kindergartners and are working on letter recognition and developing crucial literacy skills, I want to give them large crayons and scented markers to respond to text in a creative way. I want them to explore their creativity through art. We use crayons on a daily basis and as you may know, they wear down very quickly. They will be using the crayons to make creative presentations and express their thinking in a way that can easily be displayed and presented after. Students will gain self-confidence as they share their drawings/stories and their peers listen to them.
These donations will improve my classroom in many ways.
Your donations will provide my students with endless opportunities to become empowered through art. They will have the amazing opportunity to get to use materials to show their creative thinking. Empowering students through art is extremely important especially for second-language learners, and these materials will allow all my students to develop a new sense of confidence!
