Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My new classroom of 24 students is​ part of a school that serves close to 100% of its student population with the free and reduced-price lunch program. Our Title I school is populated with about 490 students of different cultural backgrounds, racial identities, and ethnic backgrounds. My class consists of students who identify themselves as Black, Latino (Latinx), Asian, Indigenous and Bi-racial.

My Project

My students are bright, enthusiast learners. Over the past two years my students have been learning in a variety of settings (in-person and virtually). Now that we are back in school together it is clear that some foundational skills are missing. Being that I am new, my classroom lacks a variety of fun and targeted ready-to-go (printable) literacy centers.

This project will help my deserving students succeed in second grade, and beyond by providing them ample options to extend their learning when they are not meeting in a small group with their teacher.

The bins I am requesting as well will allow my students to organize center materials so it is ready for the next group to use.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
