Help me give my students sweets and treats, including earbuds, Veggie Straws, Sour Patch Kids, and more of their favorite things, to celebrate them as we enter the holiday season!
My students are from a rural area in Snow Hill, NC. Many of my students are from households that will not have a whole lot for Christmas. School is a second home for many of them. I have had the opportunity to be their teacher in fourth grade, fifth grade, and now seventh grade! This is an amazing group! We are like a family. We love hard and sometimes we fight hard, just like family! They all inherently care about one another and continually make an effort to improve in all aspects.
I am in love with this group of students!
All of the students in my class are diagnosed with either a specific learning disability or a health impairment. Learning takes teamwork and working through our challenges. I teach to their strengths and truly care about each one of them. They are a special group and we have a special relationship. In order to teach them you have to reach them! Special snacks, sweet rewards, and having access to their own set of earbuds will not only motivate them but will give them what they need to be successful and enjoy learning in a safe, nurturing environment.
My Project
I would love to be able to celebrate each other and our successes the whole month of December as we work to meet our goals. Building relationships is key when working with students, especially in middle school. I want them to know how much they are loved every single day. Providing them with a little token of love and appreciation every day will help motivate them, reward them, and show them how much they are cared for. Special favorite snacks, sweet rewards, and having access to their own set of earbuds will motivate, encourage, and put smiles on their faces while we work. I would love to be able to provide them with some of their favorite snacks and sweet treats to show them they are loved and that their hard work is recognized. They need access to earbuds every day to fully participate in our daily remediation group, Iready, reading group, HillRAP, and to access books and quizzes online, RAZKIDS. We strive to meet our weekly goals and this project will help them!
They work so hard every day and deserve it.
