This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My first graders are awesome! They are explorers, and they are constantly on the move. I constantly emphasize the importance of being safe, being kind, being respectful, and being responsible each day in our little classroom. I work with 18 amazing and hardworking students who are extremely eager to learn, participate, and support each other's learning throughout the day.
Our school is a Title I school that serves many military families that are connected to Fort Bragg, and 100% of our students receive free lunch.
We are a low-wealth district in Cumberland county.
My class is full of students with a variety of interests, experiences, needs, and strengths. With the resources, structure, and the need to apply their curiosity, they will continue to develop into strong learners and balanced individuals. I may not be able to control their home lives, but I really try to provide meaningful and memorable experiences for them every day.
My Project
I would like to get an early start getting my students gifts for the upcoming holiday season. It is almost time for the giving season and I wanted to gather some much needed sensory materials for my students as holiday gifts. The gifts will include: pop it sensory bracelets that will allow my students to have a calming tool with them at all times during Winter break, coloring books , light up Jingle Bell craft necklaces and cocoa that will be used during our Polar Express day. I would also like to give my students holiday stockings to decorate during our holiday party. The colorful drawstring bags will be given to each student to transport their laptops/library books to the media center.
I want to make sure this holiday season is filled with fun, love, and laughter for an excellent group of students.
With your support our holiday celebration will be a joyful and happy time to remember in our classroom.
