Tiny Organisms, Big Discoveries. Making the Invisible, Visible.

Help me give my students an incubator that would help not only this year, but for many years to come. The petri dishes are to go inside the incubator.

My Project

As a 7th grade science teacher, I want my students to experience science as scientists do, by asking questions, conducting investigations, collecting evidence, and making sense of what they observe.

This project will provide students with a hands-on opportunity to investigate microorganisms and observe biological processes that they would otherwise only encounter through pictures, videos, or textbooks.

Using petri dishes and an incubator, students will be able to observe microbial growth and use their observations to collect data, identify patterns, and construct scientific explanations. This project directly supports North Carolina's standards for 7th grade standards.

The incubator is particularly important because it will be a lasting classroom resource rather than a one-time purchase, and can therefore be used for years to come.

This project will help students see that science is not just something they read about. Our school, being a Title 1 school, means the youth may not always have opportunities like this, but they are eager to learn and explore through hands-on science.

With your support, you will be helping create meaningful, standards-aligned experiences that allow young, eager scientists to see science in action.
