Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are amazing, determined, and so eager to learn. Most of them come from disadvantaged backgrounds and have not had the colorful experiences other children their age have had. Many have never had any experiences with computers or iPads and are expected to come to school ready to test using these devices. My students deserve all the advantages the other students have and would be so thrilled with the opportunity to learn with updated technology. They are worth it.

My Project

I am hoping to get gently used technology into the hands of my kinder kids. Gently used computers, chrome books, or iPads would change the way these fantastic children are learning. Many of them do not have constant access to technology and are expected to take many assessments using computers or iPads. Our school has very dated desk top computers and a few very old iPads to share, but my dream is to get newer technology into their hands and lives. I also envision having parent workshops with this technology to show parents how education has changed and what they can do to help their children at home
