Your generosity has made a meaningful difference in our classroom and has helped make learning more engaging and exciting for my students.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students were so excited! They could not wait to see everything and immediately began asking when we would get to use the new resources. It was wonderful to see their excitement and know that these materials were created specifically to support their learning.\r\n\r\nWe have been using the resources during our daily lessons, small-group instruction, and independent practice. They have been especially helpful in giving students more opportunities to practice skills in ways that feel hands-on and engaging. One of my favorite moments has been watching students who sometimes hesitate to participate become excited to try, discuss their thinking with classmates, and proudly share their work.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue building on the skills we are learning throughout the year. As our lessons become more challenging, these resources will continue to provide my students with extra practice, support, and opportunities to grow. My goal is for every student to become more confident, independent, and excited about their learning.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in my students and our classroom. Your support does much more than provide materials—you are helping create learning experiences that my students will remember!","fullyFundedDate":1778243702136,"projectUrl":"project/class-supplies/10196898/","projectTitle":"Class Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hinojosa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9839499"},{"teacherId":8598340,"projectId":10111645,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our \"Thinking Moves: Chess for Elementary\" project. The new chess pieces have helped our after-school chess group continue to grow in ways that have honestly been amazing to watch. What started as just a few students learning how the pieces move has quickly turned into a group of students who are thinking ahead, practicing strategies, and becoming more confident every week.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest impacts has been watching students slow down and think before acting. Several students who originally rushed through games and became frustrated are now carefully thinking through their moves and considering what their opponent might do next. Students have proudly celebrated moments like making it through a game without losing pieces, controlling the middle of the board, or staying calm during difficult matches. One student who previously became very emotional during games recently played an entire game with focus, patience, and self-control, even while under pressure. Moments like that have shown how much growth is happening beyond just learning chess.\r\n\r\nThe excitement for chess has continued to spread throughout our school. Students have started watching ChessKid videos at home, practicing with family members, and coming back eager to share what they learned. One student proudly told the group he had practiced with his dad and won two matches at home. During a lunch game between me and one of the students, several children quietly gathered to watch with full attention, and another student asked me afterward if I could teach her how to play. Our next step is helping students learn stronger opening moves and strategies while continuing to build a positive chess culture focused on thinking, patience, sportsmanship, and confidence.\r\n\r\nThank you again for helping create opportunities that are making such a meaningful difference for our students.","fullyFundedDate":1772106174250,"projectUrl":"project/thinking-moves-chess-for-elementary/10111645/","projectTitle":"Thinking Moves: Chess for Elementary","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Bo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8598340"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_69914","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":259,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":67,"percentWhite":11,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":15,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":4,"gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":76.1,"schoolId":69914,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Mulick Park Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Mulick Park Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/grand-rapids-public-school-district/mulick-park-elementary-school/69914"}
