My Students

Our classroom of 22 students is full of energy, eagerness to learn and hard workers. They have a joy and calmness when they enter school since over 60% of our population receives free and reduced lunch. My students this year are a unique group where they are high trauma students (homelessness, foster care, history of abuse, etc).

We want our students not to be victims of their lives but instead, survivors.

We do this by creating a safe, predicable and rigorous classroom that focuses on positive behavior support and goal setting.

My Project

I teach 2nd grade to a group of curious learners who love to learn about the world, sciences and current events.

Magazines are a great way of hooking reluctant readers and helping kids keep up on current events, which is so important in our world today!

In our changing world and busy schedules there is little time for current events, which is so important to our students learning.

We would like to integrate Time for Kids Magazine into our classroom as a way to teach literacy through current events. With Time for kids we will be able to do shared readings, hold class discussions and create new and interesting lessons that will help prepare our students not only in their reading skills but for their future education careers!

Time for Kids is a great way to engage students in an interactive learning experience. Your donation will help young minds learn about new and exciting things in a fun and interesting way!
