This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My first graders are working on building reading fluency with daily reading passages. Currenlty we are using sand timers to time ourselves while we read these passages. These timers are ineffective because many students finish well before the timer runs out or well after. They want a more exact time measurement which is why I am hoping to purchase digital timers for all 24 of my students.

With these timers students will be able to measure their improvements after each reading of their passage.

This will also give them practice in reading and recording time. These digital timers will be used daily for many years to come.
