Help me give my students access to fun, giant sized items that can be used as educational tools, and help me to transform our classroom so that my students can have the educational experience of a lifetime.
My 3rd grade students are eager to take their learning to the next level. My kiddos have definitely learned how to take control of their learning environment and expand upon it in the most inspiring ways. They are extremely interested in engaging, hands on activities that allow them to embark on an educational journey.
My goal as a teacher is to do my best at creating a memorable educational experience for my students.
This includes giving them access to classroom transformation days that allow them the opportunity to take control of their education and to know that it's okay to have fun while learning. These 30 kids are our future, so it is extremely important to allow them the opportunity to explore, experiment, discover, enjoy and have fun with their learning.
My Project
We live in a time where teachers are constantly having to keep up with media outlets to hold a child's attention in the classroom. So, how do we compete with YouTube, gaming companies, and television networks? We make students WANT to be there. We make their learning in the classroom engaging and fun. We give them the opportunity to be a part of an educational experience that they most certainly don't want to miss out on.
Students need to know that having fun while learning is okay.
I plan on showing them this by having at least two different classroom transformations throughout the school year. One being a mad scientist theme, and the other being a glow in the dark theme. With these themes, I will be able to create various types of games using subject content already learned to reinforce skills taught, as well as introducing some new material.
Students learn best when they enjoy what they are doing. My students will be able to have a hands on learning experience with the games I plan on creating with the items requested. These items will allow them to be completely engaged in the mad scientist and glow in the dark activities they will be asked to do. The atmosphere of both classroom transformations will set the tone and make them feel as though they are part of something bigger beyond the classroom. That atmosphere will make them WANT to be there. They'll want to challenge their thinking, take control of their learning, and build upon what they know. They won't want to miss out on a day full of rigor, engagement, and fun.
