This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from 7 different countries and speak different languages. They come from places and circumstances that are hard. Some are homeless, some have lost parents, and all of them deserve a chance. They need to know that they can do hard things and that people believe in them. I am so proud of their resilience in life, but it's also good for letting them be kids too and that people are here for them.

My Project

Covid has made so many of our students get so far behind in reading. Because of this the texts we have in the classroom are no longer relevant to their learning. They need readers that they can read. By having class sets of readers with the vowel patterns it helps each of my students get a leg up in learning to read. I believe in my students they just need to be given the proper reading materials to succeed. They have proven they can do hard things and I want to help make it a little easier for them.
