Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

As a veteran elementary reading teacher, I have been refreshed and renewed by the two-year long journey of learning the Science of Reading through LETRS professional development. I currently teach fourth grade. I teach many struggling readers who lack phonemic awareness and decoding skills. In order to comprehend text, students must be proficient in these two areas along with language development. Targeted small group instruction must occur daily along with time for independent practice. Teachers Pay Teachers makes preparing lessons and activities for phonics- based center work quick and easy. Time is precious and utilizing ready-made center instructional materials saves laborious prep time for teachers and will provide engaging and standards based lessons for students. I will use the TPT gift cards to purchase printable reading activities for small-group instruction and independent practice lessons for students.
