My Students
My students are hungry to learn! They are curious and capable, but they need the resources to help them!
My students are in the 5th grade and have a variety of learning styles, and learning challenges.
They love to learn and are proud of what they know, however they lack confidence in math.
Their lack of confidence comes from years of struggling with foundational math skills. It causes them to shut down when we transition to math or they are presented with a new subject. My goal is to boost their confidence so they are able to tackle new and more difficult subjects. Games and foundational knowledge have proved to be excellent confidence and engagement boosters in education. Your generous donation will help my students build the bedrock of a love for math, and develop the skills they need throughout the rest of their academic careers.
My Project
The subscriptions to Time for Kids span multiple reading levels so all of my students will have access to the material. In addition to the material that is on their level, and slightly above, the magazine has a variety of topics my students are excited to engage with. Each magazine set comes with a variety of activities to help develop both their comprehension and writing skills. The magazines will be apart of our classroom library and our literary centers. Literacy centers are specially designed areas where students can go during our reading block to work on their specific reading goals.
