I teach third grade at a diverse Title I school in southwest Florida. Our students come from numerous cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. We are an "A" school and one of 27 schools chosen by The Early Childhood Technical Assistance Center (ECTAC) for "Exceeding Expectations." Through lots of hard work, our school continues to help our students succeed.
I try to involve parents in as many ways as I can.
I send home extra work, projects, etc that give parents easy ways to help their child learn.
My Project
Kids today only see analog clocks on the walls of the classroom, so telling time this way is a challenge! For this project, I am requesting items that my students will take home and keep. First, I want to send a set of telling time flash cards home with each student. These will be accompanied by other activities and worksheets that parents can do at home with students to help them learn how to tell time.
When my students complete the at-home activities, I want to reward them by gifting them their very own wrist-watch!
The analog watches I have selected have easy to read numbers, with Hour and Minute written on hands. These watches will be a great incentive for my students and will help them continue to improve at telling time!
