This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 3rd graders attend school in a low-income, diverse, and urban environment. As a bilingual school, we have a large ELL population and with last year's school closing from the pandemic, I have many students who are below grade-level and will need a lot of extra help this year.
My students amaze me with their ability to persevere and work hard, no matter the circumstances.
Even with the all of the troubling times we have bad since the COVID-19 pandemic, my students are still so excited and grateful to come to school to see their teachers, peers and classrooms again. Despite the challenges they may face outside of school, my students will still come to school with a smile and love of learning!
As the year goes on, I want my students to always feel comfortable, motivated and challenged to strive to do their best. These students have big dreams and my goal is to always give them the resources to make them believe that they can achieve all of them!
My Project
All of my students are back in person and are thriving in the experience. They love doing interactive activities that especially include using manipulatives and having the opportunity to write on the board. My current easel board is not really the ideal type that gives all my opportunity for students to see as well as manipulate letters or share their ideas on. I'd love to use this more accessible, standing, mobile white board for my students for programs like Fundations. The small table top pocket chart will help my students practice manipulations of phonics in our small groups. The timers will be used to help my students for science experiments to be more independent.
These tools and materials will help my classroom be more accessible as well as develop more visual aids throughout my lessons.
