I am very excited to say that I am a teacher! This is my 10th year teaching and I'm happy to say that.
My students are creative, energetic, adventurous, outgoing, and tender-hearted!
Our school day feels more like a family gathering! We are all there for each other.
I have been at the same school my entire career and I absolutely love it. My husband works in the Computer Lab- his class is right next door to mine and my mother is the Reading Interventionist right down the hallway, so we work as a family to find what makes our students successful! Our school is in a low-income, very rural area where students are looking for more than just education at school. They look for love and support, especially during this trying time.
I teach ELA, Reading, and Social Studies to thirty-five 3rd and 4th graders in class. Therefore, I am looking into projects that will help them excel and bridge those gaps that the pandemic has set into place. Please read on so that you can help us gain student success all across the board this year!
My Project
This project will be used for my students to apply financial literacy and economics in the classroom!
Each day students are able to use a banking system due to behavior, responsibility, answering questions, and the overall run of the classroom.
This project will provide stools and a dry erase table to keep up with the Banking System. Students who are named the 9 week Bankers will be in charge of the "Banker Corner". In this corner, students can use the dry erase table to keep up with the currency students earn or owe on a daily basis- they will be able to implement their math skills into my literacy classroom.
Students use a system of 1's, 5's, & 10's that look like real money but are considered Tiger Bucks. This system helps keep the classroom running smoothly and students have to pay for items such as lost books, worksheets, missing work, or extra pencils. This helps students to learn how to be responsible and how to use financial literacy as if they would need to in the real world.
Students also are able to save up their Tiger Bucks to use at each 9 weeks silent auction. At each auction students are able to buy coupons for the classroom or toys! This encourages students to do well on a daily basis! A dry erase table and stools are what the Bankers need to make this even more successful!
