This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

To prepare our families for kindergarten next year we like to make tie dyed shirts with our students to provide the families with one uniform shirt prior to the school year beginning. Most of our families receive free school meals so to help with uniform costs we provide one acceptable uniform tee shirt for our rising kindergarten families.

We need one tie dying kit and one tee for each student to make their own shirt.

To cut down on the mess we have the students put their tee shirt inside a gallon size zip locking bag to contain the dye and make transport home less messy. Seeing the joy in our students eyes when they are making their shirt is heart warming and it is always exciting to have them return as a kindergarten student beaming when they ask "do you remember making this with me!?"
