Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work with students in a variety of grade-levels and with a variety of support needs. Throughout the year we work on skills such as following multi-step directions, planning & executing a specific task, sharing, collaborating with peers, and more. At the end of the school year, I have a tradition of practicing all of these skills in a fun & memorable way - making tie dye shirts! Students really look forward to this activity every year because it allows them to express some creativity. In recent years, we have also added another element to this activity, making a shirt for a staff member. Students love to design and gift a shirt with an adult who they felt supported them this school year.

This year this activity will be particularly sentimental as we are losing 6th grade, meaning our 5th & 6th graders will be graduating.

Having their shirts as a tangible memory from elementary school will mean a lot to my students. Many of my former students are already asking when we'll do tie dye. Your support with this project would mean the world to our school community.
