My Students

Almost every student that walks in the door of my music room says, "Can I play the piano?" Twenty-plus students in each class and only one piano forces me to sadly answer with a consistent "No".

My students are a highly energetic, diverse group of Kindergarten through Eighth graders.

They LOVE music and are especially fond of learning music in hands-on ways. The majority of my students have limited access to musical instruments and/or private lessons.

My Project

A classroom set of keyboards will allow my students to learn to play simple melodies, improvise, play chords, learn the basics of music theory, and compose their own original music. Because I have the same students year after year, they will begin at an early age and build on skills year to year.

In a world where student success is judged on test scores, expression and creativity are often overlooked.

Donations to this project will give students a practical tool that will allow them to be expressive and creative, while learning a lifelong skill.
