Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students thrive on challenges and enjoy hands-on learning. They constantly ask for innovative ways to make learning fun and accessible. They love to take charge of their learning.

The one thing all of my students have in common is a passion for learning, technology and collaboration.

They spend many hours working in collaborative groups and come up with creative ideas to learn and help our community, but are limited in their goals because of the lack of technology in the classroom and at home.

My group of students this year are very academically ambitious in their learning goals, but have the most wonderful intentions. They want to help others and their communities, as they try to solve real world problems. Talk about math at its best.

My Project

Having a set of programmable Sphero robots will allow for the creation of rotating STEAM stations. By having a Robotics station, students can work on coding and applying some of the mathematical concepts they learn in class. My goal is to personalize instructions by having a small group discussion station and a manipulatives/STEM station.

Three Roboteers stations will allow kids' creativity to blossom.

Students will also be able to share their creations with their parents and family. Students just created virtual portfolios where parents can see and comment on their kids work. Students will be able to share pictures, videos, projects, etc via Seesaw. Parents will be able to give feedback and work collaborative with their kids.

Students will also make a STEAM care package. Basically, STEAM learning in box. They will be able to borrow materials to take home and work collaboratively with their parents. Just because some parents are busy working, doesn't mean we can't find a way to let them be involved in their kids' education. My kids are very involved in their community, I am sure some of them will use these to bring STEAM learning to kids in hospitals.
