My Students

My students are fun-loving first graders who love learning and love being in school. My students are avid readers and enjoy reading with their friends. They are all well-behaved and they are very excited about learning. They are kind and caring and help each other any chance they see an opportunity! My students are happy and energetic second graders. Most of my students come from low-income families with various cultural backgrounds and languages. The classroom is where they have the opportunity to have fun and learn at the same time.

As a teacher in a low-income, high-poverty school district, I know my students are faced with challenges both in and out of school.

About 5% of the students in my school are homeless and live in shelters across the city. Parents struggle to provide them with the necessities to start the school year. Even with these challenges, my students come eager to learn. They are funny, smart, and active.

My Project

Hunger can lead to an inability to focus as well as behavioral outbursts. My students will benefit from food packages as their basic needs will be met. By this I mean they will be able to focus on their academics and not have to worry about where their next meal will come from.

This is a difficult time in our country and we need to help each other.

The response to COVID-19 has impacted all of us in unprecedented ways, especially my students and families. Invest in our students and the future of Brooklyn. It will make a difference in their lives.
