Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I don't understand the current lingo of my students too well, but I do know that bussin' means "good." And every time we have to rotate classes for science/social studies, our classroom library is envied. I let the other kids borrow books when they need. There is no gatekeeping here! But it would be nice to have a system that helps me remember and keep them accountable for taking care of their books.
Helping them develop responsibility is part of my role as their teacher.
I want them to love books, be voracious readers, and SHARE texts whenever possible. This project's goal is to refill some of our book series baskets and create a system to make our library accessible to all students. The books would be read every day during Reader's Workshop, and be available for kids to take home to read.
