Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Educators annually face key challenges: increasing student participation and engagement, effectively communicating with parents, supporting students who need extra help or are absent, and creating inclusive classrooms that foster academic and social-emotional learning. My project aims to provide the necessary resources to address these issues in my classroom.

Here's how I plan to use these resources:

1. Student Engagement: I will use geometry manipulatives and tools to actively involve students in lessons. Various pencils and erasers will be part of a class-wide reward system to reinforce positive individual and group work.

2. Parent Communication: As an exceptional student services educator, I attend many online meetings. The Meta Portal will enhance these meetings by providing a dedicated, effective communication tool with parents.

3. Support for Absent Students: I will use a camcorder to record lessons and post them on our collaborative apps. This will help students who need extra support or miss class, and parents can use these recordings to aid their children's learning.

4. Inclusive Classroom: Different types of phone and laptop chargers will ensure students have access to technology. An extra laptop will be available for students who forget theirs or if it's being repaired. I will use a laminator, pouches, and cutting boards to create materials like anchor charts, posters, and wall art that celebrate our diverse classroom. The tablet will connect to the smartboard, allowing me to move around the classroom freely, monitor behavior, and support learning. The stool will enable easy movement around the room for one-on-one or small group work, eliminating the need to drag heavy chairs.
