I have a diverse group of students who run the gamut on culture, academic ability, and socio-economic status, but they all have one thing in common: potential.
My students are talented, funny, hard-working, charismatic, quiet, shy, determined, strong, inspirational people who have agreed this year to always try and to maintain positive attitudes.
My students this year are very interested in extra curricular activities as well and bringing their talents into the classroom. They have many skills, and this year, we will put them to work!
My Project
This project is geared towards making sure that my students are motivated and engaged! My class is a reading intervention class for students who read at or below grade level. In order to help grow their reading skills, they complete 90 minutes a week on an online program called Lexia. Lexia is amazing and effective, however it is not the most exciting activity.
Items like stickers and Croc charms and treats provide incentive and motivation for my students to put their very best effort forward on Lexia!
For that reason, this project would not only allow the students to receive these incentives, but it also includes a few other awesome bonus items! Pillows allow them to stay comfy as they work. Art supplies allow them to create graphs that chart their progress in the program. Finally, lamination sheets allow us to display their progress proudly in the classroom!
