Imagine having a classroom of twenty-three eager students and losing everything in a tornado. My students come to school everyday excited about learning. Their attitudes about school have not changed. The daily routine had to be altered due to the loss of our classroom.
Our school is a neighborhood, Title 1 school.
My students not only lost their classroom but the surrounding neighborhood was also damaged. The students do not have the ability to provide new things for the classroom. The loss of everything in the class has not diminished their love for learning. They love coming to school everyday. My students enjoy playing games. They are learning and having fun at the same time. The sight word bingo games will be used in large group and small groups to enrich their vocabulary skills.
My Project
My students will use the requested materials in large groups and small groups. The materials will be put into centers to use along with other educational materials. The students will use the materials for peer tutoring and individual activities. The materials will be used for math and literacy activities. The bingo games will be used to practice sight words and numbers. The word family games will be used for beginning readers to practice rhyming and word families. The book shelf will be used in our library center to make it easy for students to access books.
This project will improve my classroom because it will give us the ability to reestablish our class routines.
My students will benefit from these materials because they will be a supplement to daily activities. When they ask where something is, I can say it was destroyed, but we have a new one coming! The \ games will be used for indoor recess and group activities. The book shelf will be used in the classroom library so it will be easy for them to reach and enjoy.
