My students need Chromebooks, iPad, and headphones to meet their individual learning needs. With a variety of learners in my classroom, I would be able to meet the needs of my students on their own individual level.
The children in my classroom are explorers, inventors, resourceful, and witty. When you walk into my classroom you will see a variety of students with their own learning style, their own background, and most importantly their own personality.
Living in a low socio-economic area my students demonstrate resilience at its best.
When my students enter the classroom, this is the only place where they will receive two hot meals and a warm atmosphere, both literally and figuratively.
Our rural community offers little to no opportunities both in school and home. Located in Northern New York only 20 miles South of the Canadian border our school district is one of the poorest in the State. Recently we have been identified as a Focus School for New York State, due to the lack of resources, opportunities, and funding available to better our student's educational needs.
My Project
These materials will be beneficial to the variety of learners in my classroom. No matter the background of the student I will be able to meet their individual needs with the Chromebooks, iPad, and headphones. With no resources available to us in our Northern New York State area, our students are struggling to not only succeed but even keep up with the ever-changing world of education.
I teach students, not subjects.
Therefore, by having these pieces of technology available to students I can meet them where they need it most. With these materials, the possibilities in my classroom will be endless. I will be able to access an abundance of educational material that aligns with not only our curriculum but also incorporates my student's interests.
This little bit of technology will also help me to incorporate collaboration into my classroom. With 5 Chromebooks and an iPad, I can create engaging lessons that are center and project based. My students will be able to learn important skills such as how to create a powerpoint or a spreadsheet or even a document and typing. With technology becoming more and more prevalent in today's growing world, I will be creating future citizens who are problem solvers, who can think critically, be creative, and construct their own learning.
