I teach 6th and 7th Grade General Music as well as Middle School and High School Chorus. The auxiliary percussion instruments that you funded will be used daily by students to practice new rhythms, play games, play music together, and have fun! Students enjoy using music to explore learning in different ways.\r\n\r\nThese instruments will be used with Orff instruments from another grant to create music ensembles that anyone can play in. Many students struggle with learning to play traditional concert band instruments or singing isn't really their thing. It is so fulfilling as a teacher to have instruments that all my students can access and experience in some way. Everyone can play together.\r\n\r\nThe students in the Middle and High School Choirs love adding instruments and movement to their performances. Your support is making such a difference as we work to bring my students' ideas to life.\r\n\r\nWe've already started using some of the materials, and we're gearing up for some exciting hands-on projects ahead. For example, in our forensics class, students had a blast creating mini holiday crime scenes. They wrote their own crime stories and connected them to the concepts from our evidence unit by recreating the scenes. It was so rewarding to watch them get creative with holiday twists, making their stories come to life in such imaginative ways.\r\n\r\nThe excitement didn't stop there—my middle school students have also used some of the resources to build small models that represent key concepts we've explored this year. The engagement and enthusiasm have been incredible.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes of materials arrived, the students were so excited they actually suggested I do an unboxing video! We ended up opening everything together, and their curiosity was off the charts. They had so many questions about how and when they would get to use everything. The energy in the room was amazing!\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next big project is the Electric Circuit Games! We're wrapping up our intro to chemistry unit, and I'm eager to dive into the energy unit with the students. I know they're going to have an absolute blast applying what they've learned to design their own electric circuit games. I can't wait to see what they create!\r\n\r\nThank you again for helping make all of this possible. Your generosity is truly inspiring, and I'm excited to share more of our journey with you as the year unfolds.","fullyFundedDate":1723695083961,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-ideas-to-life-through-science/8436355/","projectTitle":"Bringing Ideas to Life Through Science!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Taylor","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9561753"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_20959","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":797,"numTeachers":32,"percentFrplEligible":85,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":94,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"24.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":81.0,"schoolId":20959,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Brushton Moira School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Brushton Moira School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/brushton-moira-central-school-district/brushton-moira-school/20959"}
