My Students

My students are the future generation! In order for my students to be prepared for middle school, high school, college, and beyond, they must be proficient in using writing to explain their thinking in all subject areas - not just during our language arts period.

My students are creative, curious, intelligent, and passionate about their education.

My students come to school every day eager to learn and grow. They love learning! My students inspire me to be the best teacher I can be. My dream for my students is for them to receive an education that inspires them, engages them, encourages them to think critically. I believe that the addition of science notebooks to our classroom will do just this.

My Project

Several years ago, I attended a science workshop for teachers. The main focus of the workshop was to increase the amount of writing students were doing about science, in addition to hands-on investigations. I learned the importance of making sure that my students receive writing instruction in science, rather than just during our language arts instructional block. At the workshop, I learned strategies for helping students synthesize information, make predictions, and draw conclusions. As such, I am requesting 26 blank, hardcover, and spiral bound notebooks for my students to use to write in during our science time. I am requesting these notebooks because they are very durable - they will last the entire school year without needing to be replaced! In addition, the notebooks are blank. This will allow students to include full-sized science sketches and labeled diagrams in their notebooks. It will also allow them to glue full pages into their notebooks if needed. I'm also requesting 8.5" x 11" labels so that students can personalize their notebook covers.

Donating to this project will ensure that my students will gain access to materials that will help to develop their science writing skills.

Additionally, your donation will contribute to student preparation for middle school, high school, college, and beyond as they learn crucial content area literacy skills.
