Music increases productivity in student performance. Help my third graders increase their productivity!

My students are a delightful group of third graders who strive to do the best they can.

We are a small Title One school in Brooklyn. Our school is an Arts school and our students benefit from having the Arts as part of our curriculum. Our population is diverse and our classroom consists of students with special needs and English language learners.

My Project

Students work throughout the day listening to classical music and, in turn, are enriched by learning about historical composers (one different composer each month). Students are introduced to authentic music native to cultures they study throughout the year. Mexican mariachi music, Chinese folk songs, and African drums - these are just a a few examples of the kinds of music the students interact with throughout the school year.

In a classroom that is multicultural, students need different ways in which to learn.

Music helps cross all boundaries. Music brings students closer as a community of learners and enriches their lives. My students need a portable music player to listen to music relevant to our curriculum.
