Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach at a Title 1 school in Northern Utah. Our diverse school community is highly impacted by poverty with a large ELL population. Despite this, my students come to school eager to learn. They are delighful children who deserve every chance in life.
My students need every opportunity to learn to communicate, collaborate, and practice their language skills in fun and creative ways.
Last Spring, my classroom received an amazing puppet theater and multi-cultural puppets through Donor's Choose. My students have been beyond excited to use this theater and are eager to create even more puppet productions with common characters from fairy tales and fables. Flexible seating options would provide more opportunities for students to meet in small groups and collaborate in teams. In addition, I would like every student to feel celebrated and appreciated this year by receiving a personal note and birthday card mailed to their home.
