Help me give my students hands-on activities in order to increase their thinking and building skills in (STEM) science, technology, engineering, and math.
I am a third grade bilingual teacher. My students are Spanish speaking learners who come from different Latino countries. They are wonderful children who just want to learn and succeed in school. We are reading a chapter book, "Third Grade Angels" by Jerri Spinelli. One of my students said, "Mrs. Cortes I love reading this book because I am in third grade too". It was so funny because that started a whole conversation about their grade level. They started a conversation regarding the characters in the novel and began comparing it with their own experiences at school.
My Project
It is extremely important to ensure students have access to high-quality learning opportunities in STEM subjects. These STEM resources will continue to enhance and/or increase their understanding regarding science, technology, engineering, and math. They will be able to apply what they have learned in the classroom through various in class activities. Not only they will have a better idea of what STEM is, but will spark their imagination on creating new projects on their own. Working together in groups will help them develop questions regarding their task and by solving problems in a creative way. This is what I would like my students to be exposed to.
