My Students

Third graders are beginning to explore the world. They are curious about places, people, and animals. I've ordered magazines for my class but even the 2 subscriptions I have can't satisfy my "newsies". I'd love to provide them with their own subscriptions to a variety of magazines.

My students are amazing inner city third graders.

They are a diverse group of people who live in Brooklyn and attend a NYC public school. Many of my students cannot afford extras like magazine subscriptions. They are curious about the world and have even asked me to read articles from the paper.

My Project

I want to encourage my students to read and find information in the pages of Super Science, DynaMath, and Story Works magazines. The three subscriptions will provide choices for my students to find something they really love to read. I have also requested folders to keep their new reading materials organized.

We know that there are people who haven't found the love of reading a just right book.

Maybe they will find the reading they love in the pages of a math or science magazine. Maybe they'll love short stories. Reading articles will also help them meet the new common core standards and will be great test prep practice, only it will be fun.
