Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many students in Special Day Classes (SDC) can benefit from constant sensory input to help soothe and allow learning juices to flow. This year, my SDC TK/K/1 class has 14 students with IEPs and unique needs. We are a Title I school with a diverse demographics. Students are excited to learn and play together.

The project consists of wobble chairs, stools, and cushions.

The wobble chairs will help children with ADHD, Autism, and other sensory needs to sit and do their work at the tables. The floor seats will allow students to sit comfortably at the floor in a small group for math and read alouds. The wobble cushions will help students who have trouble sitting still in standard student chairs during desk work. These items help me support student IEP accommodations in my classroom. Additionally, the overall goal is to create an engaging classroom environment that meets the needs of all children.
