Thinking Outside Of The Box....

My students need art supplies such as glitter, glue, markers, sequins, wiggly eyes, tissue paper and much more to create classroom projects about Memphis for the 2011 Think Show exhibition.

My Students

Have you ever had great ideas that you wanted to depict with objects? For our classroom project, my students will use their imaginations to represent notable people and places of our city!

I have 22 3rd grade students ranging from ages 8 to 10.

More than 50% of the class is on free/reduced lunch. They are VERY creative and their imaginations soar through the roof! They have different learning styles-some learn best by listening, some by doing, and some by watching. I want the projects to encompass ALL styles so that every need is met.

My Project

This year we will be focusing on characteristics of our city. Each student will be producing a timeline, diorama, multimedia project, or game board as their project of interest. These activities will involve all styles of learning so that each student has the option to express themselves individually. I have asked for acrylic paints, markers, glitter, glue, and other crafts to help the students make each project their own. I have also asked for a digital camera for the students to use to create a classroom scrapbook.

My students deserve to have the best of everything.

I want them to have options when it comes to this project and learn that there is not necessarily a right or wrong way to do an activity. I always encourage my kids to think outside of the box!
