This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The COVID-19 pandemic has severely impacted learning. This year's data shows that U.S. math scores fell in almost every state. Students have missed key concepts in the last few years that are impacting their current learning. We have a lot of work to do to get them to where they need to be.

Research has shown that thinking tasks help students engage with math and deepen their understanding.

The requested materials will allow me to implement Dr. Peter Liljedahl's thinking tasks in my classroom. We need whiteboards and the easels to allow us to stand and work in groups. The markers are essential so that students can make mistakes and experiment with their math tasks. The games will help engage students in the learning.

My 7th-grade students have had their education impacted since they were in 4th grade due to COVID. They are so eager to learn, but they need extra support. Some of them feel like they're not good at math because of factors beyond their control. Help them grow in their math learning and be confident again!
