Help me give my students the opportunity to learn hands on how to create art through different mediums such painting, creating 3D objects and coloring as they use oil pastels, construction paper, water colors, and other art supplies.
I teach active first graders who love to doodle and color! We try to do Art on Fun Fridays as a culminating activity to end the week. Art is an essential part of a 1st grade classroom because it is one way they express themselves. It is a great way to communicate feelings, work on fine motor skills, use their imaginations and build self confidence.
My goal for this project is to allow all students the opportunity to express themselves through art.
Besides being an outlet for student creativity, students also work on fine motor skills such as cutting, tearing, folding, and gluing which they will use for the rest of their lives!
I tell my kids that they should be proud of their work. In order to do that, we need some supplies such as oil pastels, paint, brushes, colored pencils, and more. Sparking interest at an early age is important. It lets them be creative, learn new skills, and understand their feelings better. It's not just about drawing or painting—it's about becoming a more well-rounded and imaginative person.
