Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My special education class has shown significant progress with digital means such as iPads, writing, math, and art apps. They are extremely engaged when a project includes art, images, and videos which transfer the concepts directly to the research and essays.
They work at their highest level with digital applications and hands-on applications such as art and hand on applications The digital resources such as apps for art and writing allow my special ed.
students to express their thoughts visually, verbally and through written content. I use drawing, visual diagrams, and technology IE: NEARPOD, haiku deck as well as many other applications to impassion and motivate my students.
My students are in Special education, they come from a variety of cultural backgrounds as well as income levels. There are 15 kids in my class.
The students are very engaged and highly motivated to learn how to write at or near grade level when they have alternative resources. This allows them to draw ideas, write, speak to text and research with technology like ThinkCERCA.
The technology and art allow my students to feel accomplished and truly proud of their work!
My Project
This project is to support special education students who succeed with the use of technology and art.
The students vary in levels.
Although, they succeeded with the use of technology and multi-sensory applications. Many students struggle to transfer ideas onto paper especially when writing without technology resources and artistic/ visual applications.
Technology and physical drawing projects have enabled my students to overcome writing barriers. I would love to see many more of my students succeed with the use of technology which is differentiated and uses many sensory devices.
The technology supports and engages students of varying levels and allows them to write and express ideas.
