My Students

I am a lucky teacher of 16 first grade students who come to school eager to learn and experience new things with each other. We are a big classroom community who work together in everything that we do. We are a family.

I work at a Title I school in York, Pennsylvania.

Our school population is made up of more than 50% of students who receive free or reduced-price lunch. Many students participate in our backpack program, where they take home a backpack filled with food every other weekend.

My first grade classroom is one of the inclusion classrooms and I love learning from them every day. These students come to school and work hard! Education is not a one size fits all. Despite the trauma and adversity many have faced, they continue to face each day with their love of learning. My goal as a teacher is to continue to foster the need of students and prepare students for their life long dream in the work field. All students learn in a different way and need to feel comfortable.

My Project

I recently introduced Ozobots into my classroom thanks to Donors choose. I would love to get more so that every child can use one throughout the day in our learning.

Our district initiative is to think, design, build, and create through all content areas.

Our district wants to prepare our learners for their future and their success in the work field. We will use the Ozobots to learn how to code. Coding is becoming more and more important in our society.

My students will have access to these resources in the classroom since many are not able to afford them on their own at home.

The Ozobots will bring a lot of excitement and learning across curriculum areas. We are all new to coding but the excitement and interest is something I want foster. We will work individually and in small groups to code everything. I can't wait to prepare my learners for their future!
