My Students

I have energetic, amazing, students who can do math but it is not their first love. They are reluctant to try because they do not want to fail or "look stupid." They are bright and able to learn but just need the motivation to do so. They would much rather steer towards their electronic devices than tackle multi-step Algebra 2 and Algebra 3 problems. I mentioned that we were running low on markers and they were crushed! They love doing math on the tables where they can erase and start over when needed.

My Project

There is something about the dry erase markers. They are much more willing to tackle difficult Algebra 2 and Algebra 3 problems with a dry erase marker than they are with paper and pencils. I think there is safety in being able to erase their progress when they make mistakes. I have been using this method for the past two years and the students just love it. They write directly on the tables and then erase with the erasers provided.

This simple addition to the math classroom makes it fun for the student even if they don't absolutely love math.

With markers, they DO MATH.
