This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My classroom is very diverse; my goal is to make sure every child feels as though they belong in my classroom. I have named my project “ There’s Room for Everyone” because my goal is to receive a classroom carpet with enough room for each child and a bilingual book to read with translations of English and Spanish.

As a kindergarten class, we will utilize our floor area for whole-group instructional time.

During this time, students will be able to create conversations of their own with their peers. Ideally, I would introduce carpet time by inviting the students to sit upon the carpet as I read a new book in Spanish and English. By adding inclusiveness into the classroom, students are more likely to become involved. In the beginning, we will have many non-English-speaking students who may feel out of place. I have made it my goal to find a way to make everyone feel welcome.
