My Students
My students are thinkers, my students are learners, and my students have a great love for school but they do have challenges because they live in an inner city. Most of my students' socioeconomic status is low poverty. A few of my students do not even have a permanent address, they move from house to house. One unique positive trait about my kids is that they do not let these life issues stop them. In my classroom you will find exceptional students, English language learners from around the globe, and traditional students.
I teach at a creative arts school and I have never met such an amazing group of talented and artistic children.
They have a love of learning and they work hard. Their present situation should not determine their future. Where they are from should not determine where they will go. I am determined to make sure my students have the best resources available to achieve all of the goals they set for themselves.
My Project
Informative, explanatory, opinion, narrative, research; these are the types of writing my second grade students must master before the end of their second grade year. Writing can be difficult at any age but it is even more so for my second graders because they are also learning to read at the same time.
I am asking for help to get these writing tools so I can better help my students become successful writers.
Last year I noticed my students really struggling with completing writing assignments. The magnetic writing board will help me model writing step by step for my students on a larger scale. It is crucial for students to see the writing process modeled for them. My students will be able to use the write and wipe strips to practice writing complete sentences and when they make any mistakes it will be easy to fix.
