Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are eager to learn new things everyday. They love to use technology to enhance their knowledge about topics in the real world. As many of my students were impacted by Hurricane Irma, it is important for my students to be able to utilize and access technology to ensure their academic success as they have limited availability to technology at home.

We are a Title 1 elementary school with 300+ students.

All students receive free breakfast and/or lunch. We are a proactive school with several before and after school tutoring and community outreach programs. Our students' families struggle financially, but our school community is dedicated to helping our parents provide for their children.

The educators and support staff are amazing in their dedication and determination to make a difference in the lives of our students. Our school goal is to give each student the best education and the best support possible at all times. We are determined to succeed in our mission and we will not let our students down!

My Project

My students have been greatly impacted by recent hurricanes in our area. Having these tablets as tools for our success will mean the world to myself and my students. We currently have one old tablet that we struggle to share. We utilize the tablet for research purposes and meeting reading and math goals. It is so difficult for us sharing the one tablet.

These tablets will allow my students to complete their assignments and projects in a more timely manner and it will allow them to experience so much more in the digital world.

Many of my students are underprivileged and don't have access to the internet at home, especially the ones who were impacted by Hurricane Maria and are new to the United States. Being able to have them experience new and exciting learning experiences through the web will make such a difference in their education!
